A SSTR writes: "Why Was I Born? I, as a child, sometimes wondered why my mother treated me different from my other brothers and sisters. She was always very harsh to me. She would tell me you are just like your old, black, country, corn mush eating papa. Almost everyday, she would always call me Black, and all of my sisters were dark complexioned and she was Brown skin and my father was dark Brown skin. She hit me in my back with her fist so hard, slapped my face side to side while I was doing the work she told me to do after I had done my chores…
